Sassafras Gap Shelter

Posted from Bryson City, North Carolina, United States.

Had a 2700’ climb today in 6.9 miles. Called it a day after that! Used my new coke can stove with reasonable success. It will take me a while to get used to it. Yellow Jacket left today. I will miss him. The rest of our family is still together; R-kid, Cous-Cous, Orion, Mac Gyver, Weatherman, and Richocet. The plan is to stay together through the Smokies. R-Kid’s parents told us we were looking at 7.5 months hike at the current rate. Oh well, having to much fun to worry about minor planning details!?! The trail community never ceases to amaze me here. We keep track of several people ahead of us, and leave notes for those behind. If only the rest of the world worked together like this.Had a 2700’ climb today in 6.9 miles.
