While I got up and packed in a reasonable time this morning, getting back to the trailhead took awhile. Jewel Thief and I began hitching at 8am, but didn’t make it up the mountain till 11am. With all the snow, people aren’t hiking yet and cars are kinda required to hitch hike.
We moved slower today with full packs. We still made it back up and over Kearsarge Pass before too long and rejoined the PCT. Heading north, we began our ascent of Glen Pass. Very little of the trail was exposed so it took quite a bit of map work. Even though it was the middle of the afternoon, the snow was still firm and we rarely postholed. It was a cooler day and when we reached the top the winds made it down right cold. The backside of the pass was very steep, but the snow was soft allowing us to plant good steps. We made it to camp next to Middle Rae Lake at dusk. It’s good to be back in the woods.
