Well I definitely slept in today. It was 8:45 before we were hiking. The trail gently meandered along the side of ridges most of the day and was pretty much free of snow. With trail like that the miles just seemed to fly by without even trying.
Shortly after lunch the trail gained a ridge top with sweeping views of Lake Tahoe. We continued hiking along the ridge for several miles. At the end of the day we dropped down into a valley and made camp in a clump of evergreens next to Whiskey Creek. Tomorrow should get us to Donner Pass and our first hostel in over 600 miles.
