Posted from Ashland, Oregon, United States.

As planned, we had an easy 10 miles (all down hill) to the interstate. Our dreams of leaving our hard-to-find hitches in California were crushed when it took over an hour to hitch into town and almost 2 to hitch back out.

We seem to have run into the main group of southbounders and flip-floppers from the Canadian border. I got to chat with some of the hikers I had stayed with in Mojave and haven’t seen in 2 months. With them, we trail gossiped and caught up with all the news on hikers.

We’re staying at a hotel about 1 mile from the trail so we can make a quick escape tomorrow. With 108 miles to make in 3.5 days, we don’t have the luxury of a small day out of town.
