Stevens Pass

Posted from Leavenworth, Washington, United States.

Fall came alright as I woke up to a heavy frost all over the ground and my tarp. My water bottles were also partially frozen. There was so much frost on my tarp it wouldn’t fit in its stuff sack. I got moving, but it took quite some time to get warm. The sun didn’t melt the last of the frost till almost noon.

I took my time and meandered the 10 miles in. The trail was unremarkable and I basically hiked on autopilot. The last 2 miles were hiking down across ski slopes. I got to the trail head and a car just pulled up and offered us a ride – now that’s my kind of hitch. We are staying with the Dinsmores tonight- our last hostel. There is only one re-supply point left before the border.
